The Norwich Merchants are halfway to winning the Niagara Title after defeating the Grimsby Peach Kings 3-1 in game 3 of the Niagara League final. Norwich now leads the best of seven series 2-1 and host Game 4 Friday night.
Norwich controlled the play in the first period and at 13:54 Tom Brady would put Norwich up 1-0, Bryan Phillips and Ryan Baetz would get the assists on the goal. Norwich would outshoot Grimsby in the first period 13-2.
Grimsby would tie it up 1:25 into the second period on a Justin McCormack goal. Norwich would retake the lead at 10:18 when Todd Kemp would score making it 2-1, Bryan Phillips and Dan O'Hearn would get the assists on the goal. Two minutes layer at 13:20 Kris Krouluski would add the insurance goal making it 3-1, Chad Barclay and Sean McLeod would get assists on the goal. That goal also ended Grimsby goalie Mike Tardif's night. Norwich would outshoot Grimsby in the second 13-11.
Grimsby came out with some jump in the third as they outshot Norwich 11-8 but could not get one past Norwich goalie Cody Vinnai who made 23 saves on the night. Norwich held the shot advantage for the night 34-24 as Norwich outplayed Grimsby for the third straight game of this series.

Essex leads the Great Lakes final 3-0 and has a chance to close out thier series with Dresden Wednesday night. Alliston leads Walkerton 2-0 with game 3 in Walkrton Thursday night. Uxbridge and Amherstview are tied at a game a piece with game 3 of that series Wednesday night in Amherstview.
